Becky received her RN from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in South Philadelphia. Much of her early nursing career focused on the provision of critical care, including work within the Operating room, ICU, NICU and Emergency room, much at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Education was an important part of her job and she provided training to other medical professionals on appropriate trauma and resuscitation care. Becky then returned to Eastern University at St. David’s to complete her MSN. While there, she had the opportunity to complete her graduate internship in Kijabe, Kenya within a missionary hospital. She continued work within the hospital but also provided care through a “mobile clinic” in the bush. Although her focus remained on the sick newborn, her transition to primary care and prevention evolved. She then graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in nursing and as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in primary care. She began her pediatric clinicals at Brandywine Pediatrics under Kay Ryan in 1997 and has never left. Education remains a mainstay of her career. Becky has taught at Neumann University for 15 years in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and continues to precept students from University of Pennsylvania’s NP programs.
