Dr. Irwin is a Board-Certified pediatrician and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.  Prior to joining Brandywine Pediatrics in 1999, Dr. Irwin earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, then a master’s degree in the same from Columbia University. She graduated from Jefferson Medical College as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her pediatric training at the duPont Hospital for Children/Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Pediatric Residency program, where she was awarded the John W. Maroney Award for Excellence in Ambulatory Care. She has since earned Board Certification in Addiction Medicine, in 2014. Her professional interests include patient/family education, mental health, and substance use disorders.

Dr. Irwin has the distinction of being both a Delaware native and a first generation U.S. immigrant. Born in Wilmington immediately before her parents returned home from temporary assignment, the family immigrated permanently when she almost 2 years old. Dr. Irwin is married and has two sons and very energetic dogs. She enjoys hiking with her dogs and being outdoors, playing the piano, decorating cakes, reading, traveling and, of course, spending time with all her boys.
